Last night I attended the Darling Companion premiere at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, and so did some of the most adorable and adoptable furry friends. The Amanda Foundation, one of the oldest animal rescue organizations in Los Angeles, brought many of their available dogs to this animal-friendly event. And the guests, sipping Patron cocktails, were loving the pups! How could they not? In fact, LA City Councilman Paul Koretz presented the cast and crew from the film with SPC Certificates of Appreciation and declared Friday, April 20th Darling Companion Day!
The movie was based on the true life story of a dog who went missing in the woods for three weeks, but was later found alive. Legendary screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Raiders of the Lost Ark) and his daughter Meg wrote and directed the film. And stars Kevin Kline and Diane Keaton both attended the premiere.
I spoke with Kevin, who revealed what it was like working with Diane Keaton and Kasey the dog!
And Lawrence revealed to me his deep connection with the story and why people should go see his film.
Sony Pictures Classics Darling Companion opens in NYC and LA on April 20th.
