Yesterday was an empowering day for me. A group of amazing women came together at a gorgeous estate in Malibu for Urban Remedy’s Daycation event. After being shuttled to the home in a Mercedes-Benz, I was greeted warmly by my fellow style bloggers and Urban Remedy with a lovely champagne breakfast reception.
If you aren’t familiar with Urban Remedy, it is an organic, cold-pressed and super-tasty juice cleanse system. But they also produce some of the best vegan brownies and kale chips I have ever tasted! And I always feel healthy after enjoying their treats. What I really like about this company is that they firmly believe in healing from the inside out. And so, we were led to a tee pee on the sprawling property for a women’s circle, where we all gathered to talk about our highs and lows, and anything we felt like we needed to share. It is an ancient tradition that has been practiced by Native American women for centuries as a way of getting away from their men and children, expressing themselves and bonding with their fellow tribeswomen. At first I was skeptical as the leader passed around the talking stick. But it became natural and the thoughts just flowed out! The Cherokee in me was definitely happy. Although what we spoke about only stays within the circle, I can say it was a really special experience, and one I will always share with these lovely ladies.
Afterwards, we lunched on Urban Remedy’s delish kale salads and After Party juices (beet root, carrot, ginger, apples and lemon) which was great considering that I had a little bit too much vino the night before! As we became even more at ease and comfortable with one another, we decompressed, laughed at the furry (literally!) chicken and menagerie of playful pups who patrolled the lawn and cleared our thoughts before heading back into the craziness of our lives. One thing I took away from this experience is to be thankful for everyday that I am here and for the blessings I have in my life. Something simple, and totally doable. It’s good for my soul.
