I thought I would pass along an update on Olare, the orphaned elephant I have chosen to foster from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. Her keepers have recently sent me the latest updates on Olare as well as some of the other fosters:

12/30/2009 | Dida and Kimana have always been the most gentle and tolarent orphans in the group. Dida even allows Suguta, Olare and Ndii take over some of her matriarchal duties. Suguta is more concerned about the young babies then Dida is, she keeps close to the babies touching and guarding them.

12/24/2009 | As soon as the orphans exited the stockades at dawn Ndii, Olare, and Melia began playing a chasing game with the female warthogs and their piglets. They chased them around the stockade area several times until the warthogs ran into thick bush which Ndii attempted to go through before giving up and joining the others feeding in the bush nearby.
