Pink is exactly the type of rock star who is not only super talented, but inspiring as well. She gave an amazing speech at the MTV VMAS about her daughter, Willow Hart, as the singer accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. And you can watch it below.
After being introduced by Ellen Degeneres, Pink went on to describe a mommy moment that took her breath away. Her young and impressionable daughter stated to the Grammy winner that she was “the ugliest girl I know.” In order to help build Willow’s confidence, Pink created a power-point presentation of “androgynous rock stars” including Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Gorge Michael, Elton John, Prince, and David Bowie.
“We help other people to change so they can see more kinds of beauty,” said Pink. “You’re beautiful. When people make fun of me they say I look like a boy or I’m too masculine or I’m too outspoken. Do you see me growing my hair? Do you see me changing my body? Do you see my selling out arenas all over the world? We don’t change.” Nicely done, Pink.
