Finally, my favorite food and drink pairing of all time is getting the respect it deserves. French fries and champagne! And I am not the only one who feels this way.
Marie-Christine Osselin, Moet & Chandon’s wine quality and communications manager agrees. “Champagne is a wine that asks for simple ingredients, no more than three,” she said to the Drinks Business. And what better food exhibits those characteristics than FF’s?
She also mentioned that the saltiness and crunchiness of the fries can best compliment Champagne’s zesty acidity and its fine bubbles. Music to my ears!
Of course, I’ve been a firm believer in this for a long time, and have done ample research on this topic. One standout for me is a Ruinart Blanc de Blancs with a crispy, salty dream such as the french fries at The Ivy at the Shore. But I will never stop experimenting! By the way, the Ivy onion rings taste pretty damn good with bubbles too.
How about you? Have you ever tried this delectable pairing?
