Happy Memorial Day! As you are enjoying this holiday with bbq’s, sun and fun, it is also important to remember the men and women who have served, sacrificed and continue to fight for our country. And along with those veterans, there are the US War Dogs. These selfless four-legged soldiers often put themselves in harm’s way to protect their human counterparts. And it is estimated that each dog saves the lives of 150-200 service men and women by detecting bombs and hidden weapon caches.
Sadly, there was a time when these canines were left behind in foreign, war-torn countries once their military deployment was over. But thanks to The 2016 National Defense Authorization Act signed into law by President Obama, those days are over. This act gives the military handlers first right of adoption for their service dogs, and requires that these dogs are brought back to US soil once they are done with their military careers. These amazing animals are also able to help their handlers with PTSD and the effects of being in war. Heroes helping heroes. What do you think of this law? Comment below!
