As Congress continues to slash budgets on its many government programs, it is important to remember that wildlife protections need to remain in place in order to protect many endangered species and habitats from extinction. Currently on the table for budget cuts: protections for polar bears (which some conservationists believe could be extinct by 2050) and other endangered species, sea turtle habitats, and the already underfunded National Wildlife Refuge System.
