We are well into the season of giving, and many of you have asked me what are some reputable animal and wildlife charities that could use your help. Last week, I told you about The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. This week, I wanted to bring The Gentle Barn to your attention.

This sanctuary is located in Santa Clarita, CA and rescues animals from severe abuse situations. Once at The Gentle Barn, they receive herbal treatments, deep tissue massage, nutritional supplements, a high quality diet, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and of course, human love and attention. Their 130 four-legged residents include sheep, goats, cows, horses, donkeys, pigs, turkeys, chickens, llamas, dogs, and cats. Because of their on-going treatments and psychological states, these creatures live the rest of their lives here and are never adopted out. But their lives serve another purpose-to become ambassadors and help to heal abused children. And Ellen Degeneres and Portia Di Rossi stand behind the work of this amazing place.
