RED CARPET ROXY’S “RED ALERT” OF THE WEEK-SANDY PETS

In the wake of the devastation that Hurricane Sandy left behind, many animals and beloved pets were also displaced and injured.

Sadly, many families in New Jersey were forced to leave their pets behind when they evacuated the storm zone. As such, the Humane Society has set up two pet rescue hotlines that people can call to try to locate their lost pets.

New York City hotline: 347-573-1561

New Jersey hotline: 1-855-407-HSUS

The HSUS has also set up two emergency animals shelters-one in New York and one in New Jersey-to temporarily house displaced animals from the storm. Click here to learn more about what the Humane Society is doing for the Hurricane Sandy animals.

The ASPCA is on the ground in the Rockaways, another area that suffered lots of destruction in the aftermath of Sandy. There, the organization is distributing pet supplies at key points, providing vet care to residents, and rescuing animals who were affected by the storm.
