RED CARPET ROXY’S “RED ALERT” OF THE WEEK-PET THERAPY

It has long been known that pets can have very healing and calming effects on their owners. So, it makes sense that these many of these animals are used to give comfort to individuals in hospice care and in other dire circumstances.

The Home for Life animal shelter in Star Prairie, Wisconsin takes in animals with special needs and trains many of them to be therapy dogs for those in need-cancer patients, injured soldiers, the mentally ill, residents of nursing homes, and those in hospice care. Most of these rescued dogs, including retired service dogs such as seeing eye dogs and K9s, come from across the U.S., from Canada, South Korea, Taiwan, and from many U.S. shelters that cannot find homes for them. It is a really unique and interesting program designed to give back. Click here to learn more about the Sit*Stay*Heal program and you can help.
