Wolves are the focus of the “Red Alert” this week as they are being brutally gunned down in Alaska by aerial gunmen in low flying helicopters and aircraft, a practice spearheaded by former Governor Sarah Palin. So far, more than 1,ooo wolves have perished as a result of these actions. Basically, the animals are shot, and if not killed on impact, they die a very slow, agonizing death as they bleed out or once wounded, the gunman chase they on foot and shoot them at point blank range. Cruel to say the least. Now there is federal legislation-Protect America’s Wildlife Act (PAW) Act H.R. 3381 and S. 1535– aimed at stopping this brutal practice and keeping it out of the Northern Rockies, another area where these majestic creatures call home .
