For any of you who have lost a pet to cancer, you know how devastating it is. It is the number one cause of death in dogs over the age of two, and an estimated fifty percent of dogs will battle it.
I experienced this with Tex, my beloved fur “son” who passed away at the still very active age of eight from Hemangiosarcoma-one of the most aggressive and deadly canine cancers-this past August. And as I researched this horrible disease, I soon found out that there were few groups dedicated to finding a cure for these types of pet illnesses. But one that stood out was the Morris Animal Foundation. This non-profit organization sets out to advance the cause of veterinary sciences and to help companion animals, horses and wildlife. In fact, there is a K-9 Cancer walk in San Diego this Saturday which will benefit MAF. Click here for details and how you can help this great organization.
