RED CARPET ROXY’S “RED ALERT” OF THE WEEK-MAY 31, 2010

Just last week, an undercover video of extreme animal abuse at Conklin Dairy Farm in Ohio was exposed. It was filmed over 4 weeks by a worker from Mercy for Animals who was hired by the dairy farm as an employee and what happens is extremely disturbing and graphic. Dairy cows are abused for no reason, getting stabbed in the face with pitchforks, being body slammed, and forcefully punching cows. And the owner of the facility, Gary Conklin, once a respected dairy farmer, also gets in on the abuse-kicking a downer cow in the face. One employee of the company, Billy Joe Gregg, states on camera how he loves beating the animals.

Conklin was arraigned on 12 charges of animal cruelty, but the other employees have not yet been charged. The President & CEO of the Humane Society, Wayne Pacelle, is working with a group of dairy farmers trying to spread the word about a ballot initiative that would make many routine forms of animal abuse (strangulation of animals, cruel confinement of breeding cows & veal calves, and overly small cages for laying hens, just to name a few) illegal at these facilities. They need 402,00o signatures of registered voters in Ohio by June 29th.
