The Prevention of Farm Cruelty Act (H.R. 4733) was recently introduced into Congress by Representatives Diane Watson & Elton Gallegly. It states that the Federal Government shouldn’t purchase products from businesses that engage in cruel confinement methods like gestation crates, veal crates, and battery cages. The minimum requirement would be allowing the animals to have enough space to lay down, turn around, and stretch out their limbs, which most animals living on factory farms do not have. Most large distributors & packers do business with the government, so this piece of legislation, if passed, could make a serious impact on the farming industry and significantly improve the lives of these animals.
