President Obama promised change in the White House when he moved into the Oval Office. Hopefully, that would apply to the protection of animals as well, as we currently do not have a representative in government for that position. But the Humane Society Legislative Fund is asking the Obama Administration to appoint an Animal Protection Liason in the White House as that person would work with the 18 agencies that oversee animal welfare and Congress to create “protection strategies in an ongoing and sustained way.”  These protection strategies would be extended to pets, wildlife, farm animals, and laboratory animals. The Humane Society has already developed over 100 immediate actions to be taken by the government in order to ensure the the protection and humane treatment of animals.
