RED CARPET ROXY’S “RED ALERT” OF THE WEEK-4th OF JULY PET SAFETY

I hope you are having a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Don’t you love that it falls on a Monday this year? 3 day weekend and 4 day work week! With all of the celebrations and festivities happening, just a friendly reminder to keep an eye on your pets. Historically, this is one of the most inundated weekends for animals shelters all across the US. What happens is fireworks go off, animals get spooked, and take off running, thereby creating a large numbers of strays that are either turned in or picked up off the streets. Because the shelters are already overcrowded, this means little to no space for the new animals coming in, so the shelters have to euthanize to make space.

If your pet does become lost, check animals shelters often (everyday) as they are swamped and might not have the time to update their websites. And with the high temperatures, animals need to be kept well hydrated and protected from the sun. A safe and happy 4th of July for both you and your pets!
