Today, I wanted to make you aware of one of my favorite animals charities, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. It is a non-profit elephant and rhinoceros orphanage located in Kenya that rescues stranded and parent-less pachyderms, and seeks to rehabilitate and re-integrate them into the wild.
They provide these animals with round-the-clock care, and even their own private handlers called “keepers” who sleep with them at night. Sadly, many of these creatures have witnessed their mothers being slaughtered right in front of them, so the post-traumatic stress they feel is high. Thankfully, they are in very experienced and caring hands at David Sheldrick.
