PETA has named animal lover Ellen Degeneres and Project Runway host Tim Gunn Woman and Man of the year for their stance on animal related issues and the use of fur. Ever since 2008 when Ellen became a vegan and gave up all animal products, she has demonstrated her animal friendly lifestyle on her show by doing things like baking vegan pizzas on her show with Wolfgang Puck and creating pages on her website where readers can learn more about cruelty-free living and recipes.

As for Tim Gunn, he has publicly denounced the use of fur in fashion and prohibited its use at Liz Claiborne (he is the Chief Creative Officer there), as well as made fur challenges on his show non existent. Way to go Tim! In fact, he emphatically stated to the LA Times, “Wearing fur is like wearing a big sign reading, ‘I’m in favor of inflicting cruelty and pain on animals as a fashion statement.’ Unspeakable torture is inflicted on dogs, cats, bunnies, raccoons, foxes, minks, and myriad trapped, helpless creatures in the name of fashion—yes, dogs and cats.” Who needs fur? Give me diamonds, conflict free of course, over fur any day!
