ELEW ROCKS THE PIANO AND THE HOUSE AT THE L’ERMITAGE

Piano mad man, ELEW

What do you get when you cross a expert piano player, rock n roll renegade, and a mad scientist? You get the music stylings of Eric Lewis, better known by his stage name, ELEW. Last night, at a private 50 person concert at the L’Ermitage in Beverly Hills, was probably the 8th or 9th time I have seen and heard ELEW tickle, or rather tackle, the ivories, and I am no less bowled over than the times before. You see, Mr. Lewis (a self described musical revolutionary) is no ordinary piano player-not just because he takes some of your favorite rock classics like “Paint It, Black” and “Sweet Home Alabama” and transforms them into piano riffed masterpieces in which you don’t even miss the guitar or the vocals. But this man really plays out of the box-literally-he bangs the inner strings of the piano itself and creates sounds that seem almost impossible to believe. And to add to the showmanship, the whole time ELEW is doing his thing, he goes into a trance like state-staring off into another world. Truly unique and amazing! Go see him live if you get the chance.

P.S. I am not the only one who enjoyed the show. To my right-A Bar-less Leonardo DiCaprio in his trademark baseball cap with a group of friends rocking out to “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” After the concert, a clearly impressed Leo corralled ELEW for a good 20 minutes chatting about his killer performance. And to my left-A very svelte looking, Oscar winning Forrest Whitaker in a beanie cap bobbing his head to the music the entire night. But Tichina Arnold gets the number one fan award for her spirited vocal support, at one point chanting “Bring it home honey!” while ELEW was churning out “Thanksgiving” one of his original songs and one of her requests of the evening. Check out some of my videos from last night’s performance:
