This is absolutely horrifying. On Thursday, two people who worked in a lumber mill in Searcy County, Arkansas came upon a gruesome discovery. They were out looking for lumber tracts and discovered 57 dogs, scattered throughout the woods, poisoned and shot. Most of the bodies were riddled with bullets, and there were a handful of survivors, some that have been taken to the Searcy County Humane Society and others that are still on the loose in the woods, too skittish to trust humans.
“This is my first in 25 years of law enforcement I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Sheriff Joey Pruitt. “Systematically just start shooting and just leaving them lying and not even making sure that they’re dead. I just can’t imagine somebody doing that,” Pruitt remarked. The sheriff believes that someone brought the canines out to the woods, fed them poison and then opened fire on them. Heartbreaking.
Suspects have not been named yet, and are still at large. If you have any information about this heinous crime or who did this, please call the Searcy County Sheriff’s Department at (870) 448-2340, or Arkansas State Police. And share this across all social media channels. The person(s) who did this must be caught and punished.
