Have you seen A Star Is Born yet? If you haven’t, I highly recommend seeing it. It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s beautiful. And the casting is spot-on, from Lady Gaga’s Ally to filmmaker Bradley Cooper’s Jackson Maine. And there is also another star who steals the spotlight, the awfully cute, four-legged, fluffy Charlie.
A little backstory, the dog Charlie is actually Cooper’s rescued dog in real-life! Also, he has the same name. And Bradley is not only getting praise for his performance and filmmaking skills, but also the fact that he cast his own dog for the movie.
“Bradley Cooper’s happy, adorable, and much-loved dog steals the spotlight — and viewers’ hearts — in this film because it’s clear that he loved being with his real-life ‘dad,'” said PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange in a release. “PETA has witnessed so much abuse and neglect of dogs, both on and off set, that we’re hoping Cooper’s kind decision sets a precedent for all of Hollywood to follow.”
In fact, PETA will be awarding Cooper with the inaugural Compassion in Film Award for casting his own dog in his film, rather than using an animal exhibitor, as many Hollywood productions do.
Even more reason to go see this amazing Warner Bros. Pictures release. Will you go see it?
