American Cinematheque honored Robert Downey Jr. this past Friday night at the Beverly Hilton, by recognizing him with their prestigious yearly award.

And the star power was not in short supply. Several of Downey’s past and present co-stars and friends, including Jodie Foster, Guy Ritchie, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, Sean Penn, and Jared Harris, all came out to show their support. And Mel Gibson caused a flash bulb frenzy as soon as he stepped onto the red carpet!

Harris, who stars alongside Robert in Sherlock Holmes, had nothing but love for the night’s honoree. In fact, he mentioned to me that he had “learned a lot” from RDJ as an actor. Jared also let me in on his favorite guilty TV pleasure. It also happens to be one of mine!
Downey and his pregnant wife, Susan, looked completely elated and totally styling! She sported a gorgeous Lanvin cocktail dress and Louboutins, while he opted for head-to-toe Gucci. And RDJ revealed to me what it is really like in the Downey house before a big event. He also shared with me that this night in particular, was the highest point in his career. Well deserved, indeed.
