Did you know that over 9,000 dogs and cats are killed EVERYDAY in animal shelters across the US? The number is too large to even understand. And most of these animals that are euthanized and healthy, adoptable pets killed due to overcrowding.
And Amanda Seyfried and Best Friends Animal Society are teaming up to shine a spotlight on this crisis, and hope that you will join in and “Strut Your Mutt.” This annual animal-friendly race happens in major cities all across the country, including Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Austin. Participants are encouraged to walk with their dogs and fundraise to help save the lives of homeless pets.
In a statement, Seyfried notes, “Finn [my dog] and I are excited to take the 9,000 Steps Challenge! Are you up to the challenge, too? Join us and thousands of other animal lovers to help save the lives of homeless pets.”
In addition, you can also participate in the 9,000 steps challenge in which you walk 9,000 steps on the ninth of each month to raise awareness for all of the shelter pets who die everyday in this country.
