Hooray for Hollywood! This week, the highly-anticipated Academy Museum of Motion Pictures officially opened with multiple star-studded affairs. And believe us, it was well worth the hype!
On Wednesday evening, Rob Pattinson and H.E.R., co-chaired Premiere, a soiree teaming the best of young Hollywood and sartorial-loving luminaries, including Zooey Deschanel, Rebel Wilson, Finn Whitrock, and Evan Ross. The event was also hosted by Vanity Fair, and presented by Rolex.
H.E.R., fresh off her Global Citizen performance with none other than the legendary Stevie Wonder, found herself reminiscing about one of the first films that she saw. “One of the first times I watched Purple Rain, I think that was an important moment in my life. And I really felt like I’m cool now.”

Rebel Wilson revealed the first film she saw in the movie theater. “I remember the first film I saw in an American movie cinema and that was My Girl with Macauley Culkin because I cried my eyes out!”
And with movie memorabilia playing such a big part of the museum, we had to know if the stars had favorite pieces from the films they acted in. American Horror Story Double Feature actor Finn Whitrock shared, “Angelina Jolie gave me a little pocket Swiss Army knife with my name, from the movie Unbroken, on it. I still have it. I still keep it. I wear it on my keys all the time. It’s come in really handy………Thanks, Angie!”
The upcoming Batman, Rob Pattinson, played a little more coy with this question. “I have (taken memorabilia from the set.) I can’t reveal it because I probably wasn’t supposed to take it!” And that was before he took a tour of the museum hand-in-hand with gal pal, model Suki Waterhouse.

The 50,000 square foot museum is full of cherished Tinseltown memories, including Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, a life-size E.T., and JAWS floating from the ceiling overhead. You will see the famous Bob Mackie “Mohawk” dress that Cher wore to the 58th annual Academy Awards, state-of-the art theaters, a restaurant, a retail store, and so much more.
