Elections are coming up on November 2nd, and it is an important day for the future of puppy mills as well. The state of Missouri is on the verge of changing the way that animals are treated in puppy mills and this decision can have a far reaching impact on breeding dogs in other states.
Vote for the Protection of Dogs/YES! on Prop B which would restrict the number of breeding dogs to 50 in any facility and would require basic, humane care for the dogs including clean water, regular exercise, and adequate rest.
Missouri is referred to as the “Puppy Mill Capitol of America” because it has over 3,000 puppy mills (as many as the next 3 dog breeding states-Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa combined) and supplies 30% of the dogs to pet stores across the country. For example, if you purchased a dog from a pet store in NYC, chances are that it came from a puppy mill in Missouri because it is estimated that 70% of pet store dogs in the NYC area come from these cruel and inhumane places in Missouri.
So please spread the word via Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and word of mouth, even if you live outside of Missouri, and click here to learn more about Prop B.
