The Punjabi produced film, Virsa, was the first of its kind to debut as an official selection at The Dallas International Film Festival this past Saturday night, playing at the Landmark Magnolia Theater in the West Village to a sold out crowd. A reception preceded the World Premiere at the historic home of Bob Hopkins and was sponsored by Barefoot Wines & Bubbly. The pre-event was attended by United States Congressman Joe Barton, A-List Communications President David Manning, G4TV host Joey Greco, Executive Producer & father of Red Carpet Roxy-Dr. Amanullah Khan, and director Pankaj Batra, who flew in from Mumbai. Punjabi singing sensation, Jawad Ahmad, serves as the film’s musical director.
The story is about a 3 generation Indian family living in Australia struggling to maintain their heritage while assimilating into western culture. Also woven into the content is a love story between a playboy and a good girl. You leave the theater not only being entertained, but also learning a lesson about family life and the way to treat those who are important to you. And the music is fantastic! So go out and see it!
