Christmas arrived early on Sunday night at The Grove for the annual Tree Lighting Spectacular presented by CITI. And all who attended got into the spirit of the holiday season!
The uber-festive (there was even real snow!) event was hosted by Mario Lopez and his noteworthy dimples, and included performances by the reunited Backstreet Boys, Colbie Caillet, American Idol Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips, Scotty McCreary, Rickey Minor and His Band, Far East Movement, and a duet by Michael Bolton and Grammy-nominated singer Melanie Fiona, who just came off a tour with Mary J. Blige.
And this year marks the 10th annual holiday celebration for the Grove, which was literally standing room only as throngs of families gathered to watch the show, which also included Santa’s arrival and fireworks. Also in the audience was Rick J. Caruso whose company, Caruso Affiliated, developed the Grove. He attended the Spectacular with his children, who he brought to the side of the stage to introduce to Mario and the singers. Love when Dad’s get cute with their daughters! Who else was there? None other than Maria Shriver, sans Arnold of course!
I caught up with several of the performers on the red carpet before the show, including the Backstreet Boys who are celebrating twenty years together and will be launching a reunion tour next year. Many of the artists shared their holiday plans, what is on their wish lists, and their favorite Christmas memories.
I have to say, being at this shindig makes me want to get a jump start on my Christmas shopping! What is on your holiday wish list?
