Tonight the Super Bowl of Style, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala, took place in NYC. And this year’s honoree was British-born designer Charles James, who changed the face of American fashion in the 20th century. He served as inspiration to fellow designers such as Balenciaga and Dior, and was known for his sexy and refined silhouettes. Which is why we saw so many long trains, large ball gowns, luxurious fabrics and long leg slits tonight. He had a thing for a woman’s beauty and her body and knew how to play it up, much to the adoration of his fans. So here are my top 10 best dressed from tonight’s Met Gala. Who was your favorite?
Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture
Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa and Harry Winston
Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney
Emma Stone in Thakoon, a Tod’s clutch and rings by EF Collection and Graziela Gems
Nicole Richie in Donna Karan Atelier, a Zagliani clutch and custom House of Harlow 1960 jewels
Suki Waterhouse in Burberry and Anita Ko bling
Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung, Van Cleef & Arpels jewels and Charlotte Olympia heels
Gisele Bundchen in Balenciaga with Fred Leighton jewelry
Blake Lively in Gucci Premiere and Lorraine Schwartz jewels
