OK, let me give you “The Skinny on the Red Carpet” from last night’s The Cove official pre-Oscars party. The stars lined the Red Carpet on their way into the gorgeous penthouse roof top at the Andaz West Hollywood to toast this highly lauded and critically acclaimed movie about the horrendous, massive dolphin slaughter in Taiji, Japan. I learned last night from Ric O’ Barry, the man who started the whole movement to free these dolphins that there are still dolphins being slaughtered off the coast of Japan. Boo! The good news is that the actual cove where this was happening before is no longer used for this barbaric slaughter due to the widespread attention that this movie garnered. In fact, many of the stars who hit the carpet were in full support of the movie and its message. Russell Simmons, an avid animal lover, told me that he would be supporting The Cove for Best Documentary at the Oscars. And Ben Stiller, who is a big proponent of this cause and has lent his voice to O’Barry and his team, remained mum as to the status of his possible presentation at the Oscars. Remember, he was going to do an act with Sacha Baron Cohen until the producers of the show and Cohen had “creative differences.” Hmmm. Hopefully, Stiller will do something anyway. Evan Handler from Sex and the City 2 emphatically affirmed that he would not be naked in the upcoming movie. You mean no more tea bagging episodes? HaHa! Heroes stars Hayden Panettiere was hoping for the return of her beloved show and told me that her favorite designer was Converse! And celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch assured me that there would be plenty of beads & color on the Oscars red carpet. Perfect for someone as gorgeous as Malin Akerman who had fun inside the fete along side Jerry Ferrara, Stacy Keibler, Brittany Gastineau, Fisher Stevens, and Geoff Stults.
