Today I saw the edgy Liquid Metal Collection by Sergio Gutierrez. Think pencil thin cat walkers draped in not much more than silver and gold chain links, in the form of tunics, thongs, cuffs, necklaces, belts, and skirts. Suffice it to say, many men in the audience didn’t mind the occasional nip slip or the scantily clad models. There were flashes of cloth too-jeans, T-shirts leather jackets, leather purses-just not very often. Some of my favorites pieces were the wide cuffs and chunky necklaces.
The second show of the day Caravan, presented by Oral-B Pulsonic with Maria Menounous who also joined as a host of the Skinny on Fashion and threw her cool personality and killer smile into the mix, brought together a diverse range of designers including bobi by Kara Lusardi, Boy Meets Girl, Maxey, Rich & Skinny, Odd Molly, TART, Caravan by Claudine Gumbel, and E.vil and showcased several of their creations. Oral-B Pulsonic provided each model with a super sleek electric toothbrush to sashay with down the runway and ELLE Jewelry accessorized the models in sassy sterling silver pieces. At this show, I saw lots of sequin detailing, layered pieces i.e. tunics over leggings and motorcycle jackets over knit tanks, and jeans in dark and storm washes.
Several celebrities made their way to this show, such as press shy Chris Noth from Sex & The City 2 who came to support his friend designer Kara Lusardi of bobi and who kept stealing kisses from his girlfriend Tara (sorry ladies), Maria Menounous who walked in the show in a sexy white sequin tank dress by Caravan’s private label, and Kate Voegel who went through the racks of clothing before her catwalk. I chatted with 90210’s Shenae Grimes who told me she preferred more of a tomboy style as she “isn’t very girly” but she also had a great time at STYLE360 which was her first fashion show this season. I also caught up with some of the Real Housewives of New Jersey–Theresa (looked like she was about to give birth 5 minutes ago), Caroline (who was much nicer than her on air persona), and Jacqueline (seemingly as sweet as she is on the show). Noticeably absent were Dina and Danielle, who Theresa remained mum about, but Jacqueline said that she was cordial with, and Caroline declared “my feelings for Danielle haven’t changed.” Sounds like there will be more table flipping episodes and catfights in the next season of the show! Better believe I am going to watch what happens!
