I had so much fun hosting STYLE360 for the ninth season in a row, and Spring/Summer 2013 was so memorable for the clothes, parties, and celebrities who attended. Now here is the scoop!
Day 1 kicked off with the Sammi Sweetheart Collection for SXE. The Jersey Shore star has designed a colorful line of fun, functional active wear-tanks, sports bras, track jackets, sweatpants, and sneakers. And of course, her man Ronnie Magro wasn’t far from her side. Ever the (ahem) supportive boyfriend, he proclaimed the clothes were “amazing” post-show, before grabbing a Monster Energy drink. Also in the front row was Empire Girls star Adrienne Bailon, and Tylernstevie rapped/sang a rendition of “Call Me Maybe.”
The next show was Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne. This was her third time showing at STYLE360 her brand of Sk8tr influenced clothing. And the girl sure does stick to her brand. The line featured ripped denim, leather, studs, and of course a T-shirt that read “I Fucking Love You Bitch!” Kylie Jenner walked in the show, and Adrienne Bailon made her second appearance in the front row, of the day. And yes, the finale was to “Sk8tr Boy!”
The evening wound down with the Real Housewives of Orange County star Gretchen Rossi previewing her collection of Gretchen Christine handbags at Kiss & Fly in the Meatpacking District. The styles were pretty classic-totes, shoulder bags, clutches, and satchels in various shades of leather. Good for everyday use, and very practical. In addition to having boyfriend Slade Smiley in tow, Gretchen held court with a large cross section of fellow housewives including RHONJ’s Melissa and Joe Gorga, Kathy and Richie Wakili, Ramona Singer from RHONYC, as well as Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen. No Teresa Giudice in sight!
Day 2 kicked off with the Bonkuk Koo show presented by Stoli. The pieces were inspired by the nine different flavors of Stoli vodka, and there were pops of color as well as a fair amount of neutrals, and clean lines. The collection was smart, sophisticated, sexy, and very wearable. Bonkuk, an FIT grad, previously worked with his style mentor, Chado Ralph Rucci and was awarded the Emerging Fashion Designer of the Year Award in 2009 from IDA (International Design Award). He also placed first in the Haute Couture category. Keep an eye out for this young talent!
My favorite look of the show was the Stoli Hot Red Silk Georgette Dress. You know how I love my red! Also, singer Estelle opened the show with her latest ditty, “I Can Be a Freak” followed by the song that put her on the map, “American Boy.”
Supermodel Jessica White and TV personality Angela Simmons were both in attendance at the following show, Front Row, as was JoJo who performed during the presentation.
The final show of the day was Tumbler & Tipsy presented by Ubisoft’s “Just Dance 4.” And what a fun show it was! The clothes were all about that, and definitely influenced by 80’s punk, with lots of color and sequins.
Olympic Gold Medalist Alex Morgan and Kendall Jenner both walked in the show, and the three of us had a lively chat right after they wowed onlookers with their interpretive dance to “Call Me Maybe” with Mama Jenner looking on proudly.
I also had a blast talking with Lance Bass who couldn’t wait to play Just Dance 4, and one of my faves-Carson Kressley-who couldn’t get enough of the toggle clasp on my clutch. He said it was very “nautical.” Loves!
So then this takes us into the final day of the fashion extravaganza. BlacMera was up first. Most of the looks were easy breezy, perfect for post-beach 5 o’clock cocktails. Other pieces were more embellished and dressier, but still had that comfortable feel.
Daisy Fuentes for Kohl’s was the follow up to this presentation, and it couldn’t have been timed more perfect. Daisy’s latest collection had the feel of beach getaway with a hippie/gypsy vibe-flowy maxi dresses, vibrant prints, head scarves and crochet were key elements this time around. Very chic and feminine. There were several pieces that I would wear. How about you? RHONYC’s Sonja Morgan enjoyed the designs from the first row.
The last show at STYLE360 Spring 2013 was Boy Meets Girl by Stacy Igel, and she had none other than Wyclef Jean sing with Cris Cab and Jarina de Marco as the models made their way down the cat walk. Amazing!
In true Wyclef style, he had Rosario Dawson, Olivia Palermo, The Saturdays, and Olympic Medalist Susan Francia out of their seats grooving to his beats. And Stacy’s street-chic pieces are so fun and easy to mix with jeans, jackets, and even tutus as worn by Stacy!
Rosario, Igel, and I had fun catching up and did our best “serious” face for the camera!
And that’s a wrap for STYLE360 Spring/Summer 2013. A big thanks to Salon Grafix and Inglot Cosmetics for taming my mane and getting my face red carpet ready, and to the Dream Downtown for giving me a place to rest my weary head at night. Stay tuned for my interviews coming soon… !
