Today marks an ominous day in pop culture. Exactly one year ago, Michael Jackson passed away from acute intoxication of the powerful anesthetic, propofol. The 50 year old left behind a musical legacy that remains a lasting reminder of the pop star’s talents, influence, and brilliance. Today, mourners have gathered at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California to pay their respects to the King of Pop.
On Friday, Katherine Jackson, Michael’s children-Prince, Paris, and Blanket-and other family members will travel to Michael’s hometown of Gary, Indiana to unveil a commemorative statue in honor of the fallen star.
June 25th also represents the loss of another well known figure-Farrah Fawcett-who succumbed to cancer the same day as MJ.
