STYLE360 produced by A-List Communications for 7 years in a row, kicked off with a bang this past week in New York City. Designers, models, celebrities and fashionistas filled Stage 37 for 2 fun filled days of full frontal fashion, including an amazing after party at the Andaz Wall Street. The official start to STYLE360 was a well attended soiree at the Bebe Soho store on Monday night.
Celebs like Adrienne Bailon, decked in bebe-Kardashian, mingled around a room full of guests while admiring the clothes in the newly launched location. I also spoke with comedian Kevin Brown aka “Dot Com” from 30 Rock who told me that he is such a big Kardashian fan, that he refused to make a joke about them. Now that is some loyalty! A perfect way to head into the next day, being Day 1 of the STYLE360 fashion shows.
The first show was bebe-Kardashian hosted by Kim Kardashian, who was in one of her gray hooded dresses from the collection. The line was designed by all 3 Kardashian sisters, and Kim mentioned to me that one of her favorite pieces from the line was the long sleeved black jumpsuit and that she is so excited for the new show she produced called Spindustry.
Also in attendance was J-WOWW from Jersey Shore who caused almost more of a flashbulb frenzy than Kardashian herself. She couldn’t wait to get on a plane to take 15 of her closest friends to Vegas for her birthday. Nice friend!
The next show of the day was Walter, who’s collection really reflected a rock n roll cool aesthetic mixed with femme touches. Think leathers bustiers, cutouts on the necklines of dresses, and draped blouses under vests. At the Walter show, there was “Real Housewives” galore as some of the casts of New York (Jill Zarin and Alex McCord) and New Jersey (The Manzo sisters-Dina and Caroline) were all in attendance.
I chatted with Jill Z. who told me that she had just come back from a weekend away with her man Bobby and her friend Patti Stanger, the star of Millionaire Matchmaker. The 2 ladies even ended up wearing the same dress out one night! Jill insisted to me that she had no idea about their similar taste in fashion. Look for Jill’s new advice book, “Secrets of a Jewish Mother,” written along with the help of her sis and adorable Mom available on Amazon. Meanwhile, Alex McCord (sans hubby Simon) reiterated to me how interesting her Fashion Week had been as she was blogging for the Second Time Around Fashion site and even had to change her clothes in between shows in the port o potties in the Tents. I didn’t know anyone used those! And both Caroline and Dina Manzo sat in first row waiting patiently for she show to begin. Dina even brought an extra pair of flat boots to trudge back out in the snow!
The final show of the day-Clandestine Industries by Pete Wentz-was comprised of street wear with a rock n roll edge. Really it was a fashion inspired rock show as the majority of the event was a live performance by a band with models walking during their concert.
Rocker Pete Wentz (in a full beard) and wife Ashlee Simpson walked in, hand in hand, and set up shop in the green room where Wentz had his hair styled and straightened by the pros from the Toni & Guy team. At the end of the show, Pete rolled out onto the runway in a hand dolly wearing a straight jacket and face mask a la Hannibal Lector.
Afterward, I interviewed him post show and he said to me, “Straight jackets make you more crazy. I freaked out! When they propped me up (on the dolly) what if I fell forward?” Not pretty, I am sure. In fact, I tweeted Mr. Wentz right after I saw him in his restraints, and he tweeted me back, “Its gonna get crazier. I don’t care what people think anymore.” Hmmm, what’s next?
Then we were all off to the Andaz Wall Street hotel for the Clandestine Industries after party, which was one of the best Fashion Week parties that I have ever attended. And here’s why: 1. The property is absolutely gorgeous and staffed with unpretentious, but extremely helpful and friendly people 2. The music rocked-it was a great mix of pop, rock, r&b, hip hop 3. Most everyone there was smiling, laughing, or dancing-causing the vibe and energy of the room to be amazing 4. The drinks were yummy, like the 75 Smash, a smooth cocktail prepared that evening with Akventa vodka and fresh ginger 5. Although I love living in LA, as a former New Yorker, it is always a pleasant reminder being back in NYC where celebs like Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Pete & Ashlee are able to have a good time and party there like they did that night without a ton of paps/autograph & photo stalkers (not seekers or fans-there is a difference!) breathing down their throats. I love NYC! Stay tuned for Day 2 of STYLE360.….
