Day 2 of STYLE360, produced by A-List Communications, on Wednesday began with the Emu Australia fashion show at Stage 37 in NYC. The models assembled on the U-shaped runway decked out from head to toe in Emu Australia boots, scarves, sweaters, and gloves that looked stylish yet comfy at the same time.
In fact, I spoke with 2 of the Australian models in the show who said that Emu is their Fashion Week essential that they slip on for comfort while still looking hot in between the shows. And you know how fast those girls are going, especially during Fashion Week!
Also, The Wonder Girls, a Korean all girl pop super group, stopped by to see all things Emu, and told me their dream was to be on Oprah. Take a ticket ladies!
The next and final show of STYLE360 was the most theatrical, elaborate presentation of the week-Malan Breton. And why, you say? To start, he had a 4 girl Bollywood dance troop come out and perform an Indian dance routine that left the audience primed for his Bollywood inspired Fall 2010 Collection, which included saris, elaborate beading, and Nehru collars.
The collection also had modern elements like metallic bustiers, unexpected blouse shapes, and bright, vibrant men’s suits. Even though an unusual pairing, I thought most of the pieces worked quite well with one another. Malan revealed to me that his inspiration was his young niece, who is of Indian descent. Another fun feature of the show was a live performance by former American Idol contestant Anoop Desai, wearing a Malan original, who debuted his new song for all to hear. And it was good-a light hearted pop song with Bollywood beats. Constantine Maroulis, who sat on the first row, said his fellow American Idol cast mate did a great job and he was glad he was there to show support. Also in attendance was Mark Indelicato from Ugly Betty who was sad about his show being canceled, but elated to be interning at Teen Vogue. I see fashion in his future!
I also chatted with The Countess LuAnn De Lesseps from The Real Housewives of NYC, who walked in Malan’s show and wore the final outfit-a beautiful gold bustier and long skirt. Look for her on the upcoming season of RHNYC, but don’t count her out from possibly getting her own show. She did tell me that she would definitely consider it, especially now that she is a single woman. And look for her new single, “Money Can’t Buy You Class” out soon. Is competition with that other singing housewife, Kim Zolciak? Nope, The Countess told me that she thought “Tardy for the Party” was “catchy.”
** I would like to personally thank bebe for dressing me at the kick off party at the bebe Soho store and Day 1 of STYLE360; and the Toni & Guy team, especially Peter, for taming and styling my mane on both days of the shows. xx
And that’s a wrap!
