Shopping is easily one of my fave pastimes. And shopping for a amazing cause? Even better. Like Denim Unites for Peace, which supports Falling Whistles-a campaign for peace in war-torn Congo.
This online charity sale event, which takes place at HauteLook (www.hautelook.com) Wednesday, May 18th (11 AM EST) through Friday, May 20th (10:59 AM EST) will offer shoppers a wide selection of prized premiere denim brands, including Acne, AG, Citizens of Humanity, Current/Elliott, Hudson, J Brand, Joe’s Jeans, Kasil, Nudie, Siwy, 7 For All Mankind and True Religion, all for a song. No product will exceed $100 — and 100% of the sale proceeds will directly benefit Falling Whistles.
Falling Whistles, a grassroots organization founded by Sean D. Carasso, raises money to rehabilitate women and children in Congo impacted by the country’s devastating war, a humanitarian crisis that’s killed about 6.9 million people to date. Thousands of women are raped each month in this embattled country and countless children are forced onto the front lines of battle with nothing more than a whistle, effectively turning them into human shields.
“We live in a wildly complicated world with vast array of opinions and ideas. We can disagree about many things, but one thing we can certainly come together around is that there should be peace in our world’s deadliest war,” says Carasso. “The denim industry is putting aside their differences to do exactly that. Let’s follow their lead and unite for peace in Congo.”
The Denim Unites for Peace sale takes place on www.hautelook.com starting May 18th through May 20.
