I just returned from a very fun girls’ night out with Sheer Cover and a group of beauty/fashion/pop culture bloggers-among them my blogging buddies Nadine from NadineJolie.com and Sydne from Thinkthrufashion.com-at the Dare2Care pre-Oscars event at BOA. And what a night it was. After all, it’s not everyday that you get to hear LeAnn Rimes perform at a cocktail party! TV personality (and Sheer Cover spokeswoman) Leeza Gibbons and music producer David Foster teamed to present this “party with a purpose.” The goal was create awareness for Leeza’s Place, a community gathering place for family caregivers affected by a loved one with a memory disorder or chronic illness. Also, Sheer Cover, with its flawless-finish mineral make-up, had a most convenient “touch up” lounge for party guests-key for when you are trying to look red carpet ready!
The stars were not in short supply tonight and Gibbons couldn’t have been more thrilled with the celebrity turn out. “It’s the warmest, most gratifying hug!” Foster was excited for the night performers, especially Rimes-he referred to her as “fantabulous!” in an eggplant-colored rushed cocktail dress and I have to agree. When she sang “How Do I Live?” she only proved that her amazing voice is as strong as ever. And yes, Eddie Cibrian was only an arm’s length away as he gazed at her adoringly for most of the night. I had a laugh with Fran Drescher who told me that her personal style is “as eclectic as I am…with sex appeal…..I like to give them more than a little!” Work it!
In case you are wondering, Dancing With the Stars winner Jennifer Grey hasn’t kept up with her favorite hobby, mainly because she has had both foot and back surgery since cinching the show’s competition. But, she is definitely on the mend, and in fact mentioned to me that she will be hitting dance classes next week. Lance Bass avoided the red carpet and snuck in through the back door, Jamie Lee Curtis had the audience rolling with her candid humor, and Maria Menounos (decked in a gorgeous sea-blue 60’s inspired maxi dress) had fun while mingling with guests. Certainly, a purposeful party.
