I am still a little bit in denial that awards season is over. It feels like the Golden Globes were only yesterday. That being said, it sure was fun to send the final night of awards season off with a bang at Seth Macfarlane’s post-Oscars bash!
The soiree was held at The Lot Studios in Hollywood, and from the moment I walked in, I felt like I was dropped into the middle of Beantown in the 1950’s, with more artificially-enhanced body parts and cell phones, of course! Macfarlane, a Massachusetts native, hired a full orchestra to play big band classics and show tunes and the stage was constructed to look like the Hatch Shell on The Esplanade where the Boston Pops play. About half-way through the evening, a group of top-hatted tap dancers took to the stage, along with a very Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire-esque type couple who had the crowd in awe with their dance routine. And don’t even get me started on the East Coast-style raw bar, probably one of my fave parts of the night. My Mass-hole hubby (trust me, it’s a term of endearment) gave it a two thumbs up. By the way, Laura Mercier and American Crew were on hand for makeup and hair touch-ups, which I gladly took part in and then felt like a new woman!
Oscar presenter and winner for Monster, Charlize Theron, was swarmed by party-goers upon her arrival and celebrity DJ Paul Oakenfold mentioned that he was party hopping and that he had just been to the Elton John Oscars fete. Real-life couple and Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev held court in the center of the room with friends before Nina broke-off to greet shoe designer Brian Atwood and InStyle Fashion Director, Hal Rubenstein. John Stamos sported a pair of black glasses, but still looked hot as stole a devilish glance or two at his female admirers. In true rock star fashion, Steven Tyler joined the party way past midnight, and with a posse in tow. Joseph Gordon-Leavitt had fun posing for pictures with fans. Alyssa Milano received many a look from almost all of the straight men in the room, along with some drools!
After a couple of glasses of Moet & Chandon bubbly, it was time to listen to Seth take the stage. And not only is he funny as hell, but he is a pretty good singer as well as he demonstrated on his rendition of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” Sinatra would have been proud! Somewhere in the middle, he shouted to the audience with his cocktail in hand,”I am very drunk. Are you very drunk?” Needless to say, there was more than one person who screamed,”YES!” Well deserved, Seth.
