At 63, Robin Williams has passed away from what is thought to be suicide. He was discovered unconscious at his home in Tiburon, California this morning. A 911 call was placed at 11:55 am, with the Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department on the scene at 12:00 pm. By 12:02 pm, Williams was pronounced dead, due to asphyxia.
Tuesday, an autopsy will be performed to confirm suspicions of suicide due to asphyxia and further investigate the cause of death. Williams was last seen alive by his wife at 10:00 pm Sunday.
“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken,” said Susan Schneider, William’s wife.
Publicist Mara Buxbaum also released a statement on the family’s behalf saying, “[Williams] has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
The loss of the actor certainly comes as a shock. Robin Williams will be forever remembered as the wonderful, candid, and humorous being that so many came to love, both on and off the screen. Fellow actors, friends, family, and fans alike are taking Twitter to remember the star.

But he was one of a kind. He arrived in our lives as an alien — but he ended up touching every element of the human spirit. He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most — from our troops stationed abroad to the marginalized on our own streets.”
With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Robin Williams and wish his family nothing but solace and comfort during this heartbreaking time. He remains one of my favorite celebrities that I have ever had the privilege of interviewing and will be missed. Rest in Peace Robin Williams.
