Ok, Fashionistas. As you know, I returned this past week from deep in the fashion capital of Manhattan, specifically New York Fashion Week and STYLE360, the 4 day fashion extravaganza produced by A-List Communications and HFM at the Metropolitan Pavilion which showed the collections of Abbey Dawn by Avril Lavigne, Tide with Geren Ford, Rado with Malan Breton, Rebecca Minkoff, Caravan presented by Oral-B Pulsonic, Kipling with Walter, Abi Ferrin, Clairsonic’s Susan G. Komen Pink Dress Show hosted by Brooke Burke, Gen Art Fresh Faces, and Liquid Metal by Sergio Gutierraz, as well as after parties hosted by Ferrin and Avril Lavigne at The Gates, and a big finale at What Goes Around Comes Around. It was a great time had by all, and I especially loved not only covering the shows & parties for my site, RedCarpetRoxy.com, but also working as a special correspondent along with Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounous for Elle.com by interviewing celebrities and designers for The Skinny on Fashion, courtesy of Oral-B Pulsonic. I wanted to share with you some of the emerging trends that I saw for Spring 2010:

1. Lots of bold color-everything from bright yellow to searing red on pieces like dresses, jumpsuits, and shoes. Red is the big color for Spring.

2. Hemlines are dropping-there are still some minis of past seasons but a lot more of knee length and floor length dresses and skirts.

3. Lots of jeweled and sequins accents and all over looks which will carry over from this Fall into Spring. Shiny, shiny, shiny.

4. Spring 2010 is loving the 1980’s-think when the real supermodels reigned, but made more up to date-tight dresses, sexy backs and cutouts, bustiers, waist length jackets, lace panels, and cropped pants (above the ankle).

5. For men, colored suits in pastel hues are big.

6. Get out your thigh masters because we will be seeing high cut shorts.

7. Deconstructed romance with lightness. Designers were showing textured and crinkled fabrics that draped the body, but also lightweight and sheer accents and pieces that seemingly floated through the air.

8. Leather that is quilted.

9. Graphic prints that look brushed on especially on sheer pieces.

10. As far as beauty goes, peach colored lips are in, strong eyeliner either above or below the eye in various shades from bright orange to black, and in hair the trend will be full body, long manes, twisted chignons, and braids in unexpected places-along the side and bottom of the hairline.

If you would like to view cool interviews with designers and celebrities from Avril Lavigne to Perez Hilton dishing on everything fashion-trends, parties, and more-click here for their Skinny on Fashion.

STYLE360 was made possible by some really progressive, fashion forward companies, including Oral-B Pulsonic who sponsored The Skinny on Fashion and has one of the sleekest and skinniest toothbrushes around, Clairsonic Skincare (my current beauty obsession-my skin has never felt so soft & clean!), Toni & Guy for the amazing hair they gave the models as well as me, Sephora for their fantastic makeup, Tide Total Care for keeping our hip clothes clean, Rado watches-simply gorgeous and looked fantastic with designer Malan Breton’s clothes, Ford Motor Company for shuffling around celebrities so they wouldn’t be late to their next show or party, ELLE jewelry for decking out the models on the runway, Rose’s Cocktail infusions for keeping the party going, Kipling who generously teamed up with Walter to present his Spring 2010 collection, Prarie Organic Vodka for completing the cocktails, Orbit Mist gum for keeping fashionistas’ breath fresh all day/night long, The Gates for providing an awesome party place, What Goes Around Comes Around for hosting a vintage inspired closing night soiree-a perfect ending to a stylish week. And of course, Hachette Filipacchi Media (Elle, Elle Decor, and Metropolitan Home). Until next time…
