The Tillman Story aims to blow the lid off of the conventional tale that you have probably heard about ex-NFL star turned Army Ranger, Pat Tillman. The one that says he died while fighting for his country in Afghanistan. Director Amir Bar-Lev paints a completely different picture in this gripping documentary, opening August 20th, that in fact, Tillman was killed by “fratricide” or “friendly fire” by soldiers in his own unit. And what is worse, as shown in this film, is that the US Government constructed an extensive cover-up in order to hide the truth. The thing is, Tillman’s mother Dannie wasn’t going to let this happen and began an all out war seeking the truth for her son.
Last night at the special screening of this documentary at the Pacific Design Center, I caught up with the film’s narrator, Josh Brolin, who told me why he felt compelled to do this “non-partisan” project and why you should see this “human story”:
