The 2nd Annual Autumn Party benefiting the Children’s Institute, Inc., was held last night at The London West Hollywood. And this year’s featured designer was Yigal Azrouel, one of my faves. His aesthetic is simply beautiful-minimalist chic with a modern feel and sex appeal. He really loves dressing a woman’s body, as was apparent with his Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which was shown at the soiree.
I had a very inspiring Saturday night as I attended the “An Evening With the Stars” Gala, benefiting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. It seems that lately, Pancreatic Cancer has been all over the headlines with the recent passing of Steve Jobs and before him, Patrick Swayze. But, as I found out at the Gala, relatively little is known about this especially deadly disease, and as a result, many people are dying. In fact, the grim statistics reveal that the five year survival rate of this type of cancer is only 6%. Compare that to breast cancer, which has an over 90% survival rate five years out. What the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is trying to do is raise awareness and funds to combat this disease, as well as try to double the survival rate by 2020.
Last night at the “Autism is Awesomism” charity concert in Hollywood, I spoke with funnyman Jack Black backstage before his live set with Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, and Nash. He explained to me why this event was so important to him. We also had some serious fashion chat.
Just this past weekend at the Operation Smile Benefit, I caught up with Brooke Burke who was there to support one of her favorite charities. She let me in on her Dancing With the Stars prediction for the front runners, as well as who she thinks is the funniest contestant.
