What do Heidi Klum, Nicole Richie, and Kim Kardashian have in common besides being stunning, fashion lovers? They have all collaborated with celebrity jeweler Pascal Mouawad for individual collections based upon their respective style senses. And don’t think these decisions are made without due consideration. After chatting with the head of the company, Pascal Mouawad, at the unveiling of the 2010 Masterpiece Collection for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (Mouawad jewelers have designed the famous diamond bra 6 times over the last 10 years!), I discovered what goes in to choosing their Hollywood collaboration partners.
He revealed, “it is always based on the celebrity and her perception in the marketplace. So for me, it is very important that the celebrity be perceived as somebody who is fashionable, stylish, and her fan base likes her style and they want to emulate it in the way they dress and express themselves. The jewelry in the marketplace is catered to the fans and celebrities.” Next up, he will be working on a watch line with Jessica Simpson. And with whom would he love to work with next? Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Kate Moss. Not that is a solid list! And you might have seen the likes of Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Christina Aguilera, and Angelina Jolie who have all donned pieces by Mouawad on the Red Carpet.

Back to the Masterpiece Collection—$21 million worth of diamond, ruby, and sapphire jewelry that I got to drool over and model in at the LA showroom last week. What a day! These gorgeous gems will adorn the beautiful bodies of the Victoria’s Secret Angels at the widely watched Fashion Show on November 30th on CBS. And Pascal will be in NYC working backstage, dressing the models. But know that he will be keeping an eye out for runway mishaps (he has seen angel wings break and jewelry fly off of the models), in addition to enjoying the perks of his job. I know many men who would gladly be his assistant!
