MOD (Matters on Design), produced by Hachette Filipacchi Media (Elle Decor and Metropolitan Home) and A-List Communications, launched on Saturday at the Grove to large crowds and several celebrity attendees curious about exploring the many facets of design and how emerging technologies affect how design progresses. The event was presented by Lincoln which showcased the new 2010 Lincoln MKT and also the Lincoln C-a concept car smart enough to drive itself. Several rock stars from the design world came together on various panel discussions throughout the day to share their expert knowledge in their various field. Those included: interior designers Jeff Andrews, Marjorie Skouras and Michaela Scherrer, architect Zoltan E. Pali, Ford design manager Tyler Blake, and Metropolitan Home Special Projects Editor Samantha Nestor who also moderated the discussions.
Samantha has 2 really cool books out, one called The Luxury Bathroom and the other-Living With Wine-about some of the best wine cellars around. I can’t wait to read that one! Star of Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Listing Chad Rogers was a featured speaker who told me that he thinks the current real estate prices will continue to fall and that 3 major ways to get a property sold are to reduce the clutter, landscape the yard, and stage the house with furniture.
Actress Ali Landry hosted the evening cocktail party, where guests enjoyed the MOD Martini made with Rose’s Mojito Mix, and she mentioned to me that she dug my yellow nail polish (my fave color right now) and had a new baby line called belleparish.com. She was particularly interested in the day’s discussions as she is hoping to get more into interior design and launch a home design line in the future.
Dancing With the Stars professional Cheryl Burke was also at the soiree and she disclosed to me that her DWTS partner Tom Delay was very sweet and trying very hard to dance his best. So keep voting! Throughout the day, several celebrities stopped by the event including singer Eric Benet who checked out the Lincoln MKT, Mean Girls’ Jonathan Bennett, and both P. Diddy and LeBron James who each had large entourages in tow.
