So what started out to be a normal club opening at Playhouse in Hollywood last night quickly took a sharp turn-when a pushy reporter got a little to close for comfort for Mel Gibson and his pregnant girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. Here is how it went down according to Hollyscoop.com: the female reporter tried snapping a photo of Mel and Oksana and security escorted her out of the club and deleted the photos from her camera. Unsatisfied with this outcome, the lady then sent her friend, Karlis Gajevskis back into Playhouse with her camera hoping that he would be able to get the shot of Gibson and his gal pal that she wanted. After Karlis tried repeated attempts to obtain the photo and the even strived to pose as part of Mel’s entourage, this quickly escalated into Mel getting involved and attacking Karlis who was trying to get the money shot of Mel partying. The aftermath left Gajevskis with a ripped shirt, looking as if he had just tousled with Edward Scissorhands-he looked like an extra from Flashdance! He then scurried off to file charges against Mel, which according to early reports it seems as if the cops won’t file charges against Mel and that if anything it might come to a civil matter. Dramarama!
After all of this mayhem,Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum didn’t even shock me when he playfully divulged to me one of his crazy touring stories with Guns N’ Roses that occurred on their jet-ever heard of the mile high club? Well Matt’s version is called the mile 5 club an involves all 5 of the stewardesses-use your imagination! As he so deftly put it, “They said buffet? We said OK!” If you want to know more sordid secrets from his rock star experiences, you will have to wait for his book that is coming out soon. As for now, you can catch Matt in his new all chick group the Darling Stilettos, who played at the opening last and where he serves as “den mother” managing and drumming alongside these lovely ladies. The Cult guitarist Billy Duffy was also in attendance and looking forward to The Cult’s Love Live tour which kicks off next month and hits L.A. on August 21st at the Nokia Club and promises to perform the 1985 “Love” album “in its entirety.”
See, it’s not all fun and games at Playhouse!
