Whenever I see Luca Luca clothes or a fashion show, I am mostly reminded of Luca Orlandi designing his clothing to exude femininity by playing up to a woman’s body in the sleek cuts and the non-fussy manner in which the clothes lay on the body, essentially eliminating “design clutter.” Luca Luca’s Spring 2010 Collection, which debuted today at the Altman Building, included the element of bold color-fuchsia, cobalt blue, and bright yellow and displayed them on silhouettes like the one piece jumper, belted evening gown with pleats on the skirt, and one shouldered tiered dress. Also, in the spring grouping were playful separates (knee length skirts, crop pants, off the shoulder blouses) and prints on skirts and tops. The curly topped models strutted down the catwalk to dance music spun by Jelly Bean in various, sexy stilettos from Christian Louboutin.
The audience was comprised of a good mix of fashionistas and celebrities, including singer Estelle, socialite Tinsley Mortimer, actress Tiffani Thiessen, and Nicki Hilton who chatted with a friend during the show and posed for snapshots with Mr. Orlandi backstage afterwards.
