Actors Louis Gossette Jr., Vivica A. Fox, and Taryn Manning were honored on Friday night for their achievements as part of the opening night of the Bel Air Film Festival at UCLA’s James Bridge Theater. A veteran of almost 80 films, Lifetime Achievement awardee Louis Gossette Jr. revealed to me that Officer and a Gentleman (one of my faves!) was one of his most memorable movies to make. In fact, he recalled that he and costar Richard Gere “worked hard to capture reality.” Gorgeous Vivica A. Fox, decked in a sequin embellished dress by 3.1 Phillip Lim and Christian Louboutin stilettos, chatted about how speacial it was to be honored that night as Best Actress and that it felt “so good for people to acknowledge my sacifices.” Fox has a new fashion line that she is working on with a “grown and sexy” design asthetic aimed at cougars because they are “alive and well!’ She also mentioned that she heard “rumors that Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman have started talks for Kill Bill Vol. 3.” Right on! A fashionable French Connection and Rachel Roy wearing Taryn Manning, who was being honored with the Film Fashion Visionary award or “renaissance woman” award as she so accurately put it, was singing that evening for the audience. Taryn has been doing quite a bit of performing with her band BoomKat and is scheduled to sing at Hotel Cafe on Friday night. Also on hand for this event was flamboyant actress Bai Ling and Daisy of Love’s Daisy De La Hoya who was excited to see the night’s screening of CoCo Chanel starring Shirley Maclaine.
