I think at this point, you pretty much know how much I love going to concerts. And boy, did I go to one for the books on Saturday night. I attended the Decade of Difference Concert in celebration of the Clinton Foundation’s tenth anniversary. And the band list read like a who’s who of the music industry. Lady Gaga, Bono, The Edge, Usher, Kenny Chesney, and Stevie Wonder all performed at this star-studded show.
And the night’s hosts were just as amazing. Ellen Degeneres introduced Gaga and said that the songstress “needed no introduction” and then abruptly walked off the stage. Gaga then rocked “Born This Way” before dedicating “Edge of Glory” to Bill Clinton and revealing that she had always wanted her “Marilyn moment” with a President. She also sang “You and I” and “Bill (Bad) Romance.” She blew the roof off the house.
And Usher did something completely different-he opened with Joe Cocker’s “With A Little Help From My Friends.” Unexpected, but really great. He then rocked the crowd with “Yeah!” and “OMG.”
My Irish lads, Bono and The Edge, took to the stage for a rare acoustic performance that was just as powerful and energetic as when they are with the full band. They opened with a rousing rendition of “Desire,” followed by “I Still Haven’t Found What I am Looking For,” “One,” “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” and “Miss Sarajevo.” The rockers also belted out “A Man and A Woman” for the first time ever live.
Be sure to check out the Funny or Die skit that Ben Stiller produced for the show. So hilarious! And stay tuned….I will be posting more videos this week!
