Update September 2, 2014:
Melissa Rivers has just released a statement, saying that her mother “remains on life support.” Earlier reports noted that the comedic legend would be brought out of her medically-induced coma to see if there had been any brain damage caused from lack of oxygen. It is unknown if there is any brain damage at this point. We will keep you updated.
After entering what was intended to be a minor throat procedure, Joan Rivers ceased breathing and was rushed to Manhattan’s Mt. Sinai hospital. The 81 year-old is now in a medically induced coma, where she remains in serious, but stable condition.
Ever since, her daughter Melissa has been closely by Rivers’ side. In a statement to The Insider With Yahoo, She revealed, “Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible.”
Melissa also added, “My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.”
More updates to come as we wish for the speedy, and complete recovery of Joan Rivers.
