Last night, the final installment of The Hobbit movie series premiered at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood to a packed and excited crowd. The Battle of The Five Armies, the highly anticipated third film from director Peter Jackson, did not disappoint. It was shot in 3D-full of amazing action sequences and cool visuals. Think larger than life Orcs, all out war scenes and impeccable story-telling. Not to mention, appearances by series favorites Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly, of which the last two were in attendance. Lilly paid homage to starlets of the past by sporting a 1920’s style embroidered gown and pin curls. Bloom was equally dapper, opting for a button down and jacket, with his hair loose and wavy.
At this screening, several celebrities who weren’t in the movie still came and showed their love. Jack Black entertained movie-goers with his rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Ramble On.” Marcia Gay Harden sat in the rear of the theater with her children, waiting for the adventure to start. Elijah Wood, who played Frotto in The Lord of the Rings, talked with guests, and Planet of the Apes star, Andy Serkis, got swarmed by onlookers as soon as the film finished.
At the after-party which was held in the Dolby Ballroom, guests dined on fare by Chef Wolfgang Puck and sipped Patron tequila cocktails. The backdrop of the soiree was quite detailed, built to look like Smaug’s Castle in the mountain. Bloom got approached by fans at the after-party, eager for pictures with the SAG Awards-winner, while Evangeline sat with director Peter Jackson for a chat. James Cameron posed for photos with his wife, Suzy and Rodarte designers Kate + Laura Mulleavy mingled in the crowd. Will you go see this film?
