CURRENT OBSESSION: THE SILVER RAIN SPA AT THE RITZ-CARLTON GRAND CAYMAN

Seriously, I felt like I had died and gone to heaven….or at least the The Caribbean after I spent some time at the Silver Rain Spa at the Ritz-Carlton in Grand Cayman, which features La Prarie products.

The healing waters entrance of the Silver Rain

As you might remember, a couple of weeks ago, I journeyed to the tropical island to cover the Cayman Fashion Solstice and to interview the host-Victoria’s Secret model, Selita Ebanks. Well, after all of that fashionable fun, I headed down to a luxurious and cozy paradise, otherwise known as Silver Rain. After walking through the healing water foyer, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff, and was escorted to the plush ladies changing room. I emerged only a few minutes later, swathed in a thick, soft terry cloth robe and warm cotton slippers for my weary feet. I was then led upstairs to the quiet, bathed in white waiting area with the most comfy chaises and privacy curtains in case one really needs alone time.

After choosing my musical preference (Indian Sitar) for the next hour, I flipped through the coffee table books about the history of Grand Cayman and the Caribbean, while waiting  for my esthetician (which took less than 10 minutes-the perfect amount of time to let go and get into relaxation mode-which isn’t easy for me). Soon, a soft spoken Brit named Helfina Rees appeared and showed me to her room. After she surveyed my skin, she recommended that I choose the Resurfacing Facial and I happily obliged. After thoroughly cleansing my skin with La Prarie’s Foam Cleanser, she used a barrage of La Prarie goodies on my face, including the Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold Serum, Cellular Radiance Eye Cream, Cellular Radiance Cream, Cellular Refining Lotion, Cellular Hydralift Firming Mask, Cellular Luxe Lip Treatment SPF 15, and my personal fave-the Cellular 3-Minute Peel which truly left my face feeling like a baby’s bottom. In fact, the texture of the skin on my face still has a freshness about it-even 2 weeks later. She also gave me one of the best head rubs I have ever had, so much so that I was lulled into sleep during the treatment not once, not twice but more like 4 times! Post relaxation, I stumbled-literally-back into the waiting area and was promptly served a glass of chilled bubbly to complete my transformation from tense to tranquil. No wonder Selita revealed to me that this is where she retreats to “detox and relax.” And the fact that it is housed in the Ritz-Carlton makes it that much better. Now if only I could go back!
